The Multi-Axis Training simulates a spacecraft/aircraft tumble. Participants ride strapped and suspended in a chair assembly inside three tumbling rings. Participants tumble simultaneously through all three axes and rotate, somersault, and roll all at once rapidly.

Explore materials science and ergonomics while crafting gloves capable of withstanding the rigors of lunar tasks. Put your creation to the test in hands-on challenges like opening regolith sample jars, solving puzzles, and collecting Moon rocks.

Math in Bloom: Teen Maker Hour Explores 3D Coding

This hands-on class allows teens to dive into the world of basic computer programming and discover how mathematical operations can be used to create and manipulate 3D shapes. Using TinkerCAD Codeblocks, we will design a custom 3D model of a flower, watching geometry and logic bloom together! Your student's unique flower design will be adapted for 3D printing and turned into a keychain, which will be available for pick up the following day at the main Ticket Desk.

Houston, We Have a Shadowbox!

You’re the Systems Engineer in this Apollo-inspired lab hour where teens design and build a glowing lunar shadowbox keepsake! Using 2D vector graphic design, cut intricate layers from cardstock and cardboard on the Glowforge Laser Printer and Cricut Cutting Machines. Wire up a simple LED circuit to light up your landing scene and create shadows on the Moon. It's the perfect mix of space history, design, and desktop manufacturing.

June 13 – How to Choose a Landing Site

Do you want to journey to Mars to set up a colony? Mine the Moon for water? Visit an asteroid like Bennu to acquire rocks samples for scientific research? With unlimited locations to explore in our solar system, scientists have to make difficult decisions in choosing not only the world but which nook and cranny to land upon. Explore ideal (and less so) landing sites as we journey across worlds in our solar system.

August 8 - Red Rovers, Red Rovers: Mars Update

It’s been four years since we landed Perseverance and Ingenuity on Mars! What have our newest Martian robots learned during their first three years? Explore Mars with us as we look at the red planet though robotic eyes both new and old (Curiosity, anyone?) and discover the technologies being tested in preparation to send humans to Mars in the near future.

August 15 - Black Holes

Imagine falling into a black hole. Sounds bad for starters. From supermassive black holes like Sagittarius A* to stellar mass black holes like Cygnus X-1, these astrophysical phenomena attract the attention of scientists and the public. Heavy conversation aside, get pulled in for Cocktails & Cosmos and a peak at what black holes are and how they work.

Participants will embark on an exciting journey into the world of SCUBA diving in our Underwater Astronaut Trainer learning skills and descending 24’ to the bottom in order to experience Neutral Buoyancy. Guest will learn skills it takes to be confident and safe underwater from a skilled Dive Instructor. Once they complete the skills portion, they will begin their descent to the bottom of the tank in order to get a feel for being in space. Our Instructors will lead participants in a series of tasks designed to be challenging and fun and after completion they will ascend back to the surface.

All equipment is provided. Participants need to bring a swimsuit and sign a liability and medical waiver prior to diving. SCUBA pending physician approval. History of insulin dependent diabetes, epilepsy, reactive airway disease or asthma will not dive. Final determination concerning fitness to dive will be made by the Space Camp Medical & UAT staff.

*Participants must be age 14 or older, and participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
